Our vision of Actively Caring 4 People foresees a world of courage, compassion, and belonging; a community where kind gestures are not random, but rather intentional. We will unite in the common commitment to actively care, which is a pledge to go beyond the call of duty, in every opportunity possible, for the collective betterment of our community. Everyone has the ability to care for others; all we need is a proactive approach.
The Wristband
If you see someone do something nice for somebody else for no reason, you are supposed to take the green wristband off of your wrist, thank the person for actively caring, and encourage them to pay it forward. The idea is to spread kindness. It all starts with you.
Actively Caring Team
My Passion
Act.
Act. Actively Caring for People hopes to inspire individuals to commit an intentional act of kindness everyday and to share the caring story!
Care.
Care. We believe that all individuals are capable of and responsible for caring for those around them on a daily basis.
Pass.
Pass. We believe in "paying it forward," so if you see someone else do an act of kindness, take off the wristband, thank them, and tell them to pass it on.
What is going on now?
Currently, we have a pilot program in an Elementary school in Fairfax. Also, we have schools across the east coast (12 in total) who will be implemented the program this upcoming fall. We developed an actively caring bullying intervention for elementary, middle, and high school. We are trying to evaluate the effects of an actively caring culture in relation to bullying. We are trying to make "caring cool" in elementary school, thus changing the behavior, and hopefully leading to less bullying in elementary schools.
Do you know anyone in education that would be interested? Let me know. E-mail
