My Passion - The Student Government Association
The Student Government Association (SGA) is something that I am extremely passionate about. Our website explains our purpose. As the President, I was tasked with representing the undergraduate student body at Virginia Tech directly to the administration. We selflessly served the students by actively listening and tailoring our work around their needs and concerns.

SGA4You Campaign
We ran our campaign on the idea of truly making it all about the students. Rather than telling the students what we were going to do, we asked them what they wanted and acted upon that. Our slogan was "It's All About You." We are not doing this for our resume; we are 100% committed to moving Virginia Tech forward in a progressive, positive way. We will work to reinvent Virginia Tech through the voice of the students.
What we ended up doing for our campaign was embedding facebook connect within our website, and then we had the students vote on the most important issue between Transportation, First-Year Experience, Diversity, and Traditions. We basically made our website a social network; one where people could talk about the issues directly on our site via their facebook. Ultimately, the students chose Transportation with 41% of the total vote. Also, we had live video streams via Qik, which helped us connect with the students even more.
We only spent ~$150 on our campaign and had over 3200 unique visitors visit our site. Through the use of Web 2.0 and viral marketing, we were able to reach a Tipping Point that ultimately led to our victory.
I owe much of our success to Taris Mullins- he is one of my role models and one of the smartest man I have ever met.
